Renata Voracova Visa Cancelled : After Visa complications regarding Australia’s Covid-19 vaccine regulations, Czech Tennis player Renata Voracova left Australia on Saturday. Voracova had already reached Australia and had even played a match before her visa getting cancelled. She has now joined World rank 1 Novak Djokovic in immigration detention and is out of the Australian Open. (Renata Voracova Visa Cancelled)
Czech Foreign Ministry on Voracova’s exit from Australian Open commented, “(Renata) Voracova left Australia on Saturday based on her own decision to end her participation in the tournament due to complications with her visas”.
Unlike Novak Djokovic who has challenged his visa cancellation, Renata Voracova has made a decision to leave the tournament without any retaliation. Her explanation to Czech news site idnes.cz regarding the decision is that she will not challenge because of time it would take and not practice ahead of the Australian Open later this month. The Czech foreign ministry also said, “The decision was not based on her expulsion from the country”. The 38-year-old Doubles specialist was unvaccinated but was exempted after testing positive for Covid-19 before Christmas. This was around the time she had planned to get vaccinated after last season’s end. (Renata Voracova Visa Cancelled)
Vorocova is reportedly said to have departed to Dubai. Renata and Djokovic were given exemption earlier from Tennis Australia because they had contacted Covid-19 one month prior to the Australian Open. Novak Djokovic in a legal challenge brought up the clause of his medical exemption.
Australian government released a statement showing that earlier they wrote a letter to Tennis Australia in November. It states that prior infection to Covid-19 was not a ground to grant medical exemption in Australia. (Renata Voracova Visa Cancelled)
