Asian Football Cup 2022: In the opening game of the Asian Football Cup 2022, China defeats Chinese Taipei with a dominating score of 4-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Thursday. China is eight-time AFC winners and have shown that they are the tournament favourites this year as well. After the match they are placed rank 1 in the Group A standings. (Asian Football Cup 2022)
In the third minute of the match China’s Wang Shuang scored brilliantly placing them with the upper hand from the start. Six minutes later, Wang Shanshan doubled the lead after heading in a goal via a cross.
This was China’s first international appearance since July 2020, their two goals in the first ten minutes shattered Chinese Taipei’s confidence who qualified in the tournament after 14 years.
China with a possession rate of 77% and 18 shots throughout the match showed that they are in it for the trophy race. In the 54th minute China’s Zhang Xin got her goal registered in the scoresheet, with a brilliant assist from Wang Shuang. (Asian Football Cup 2022)
China’s star performer of the match, Wang Shuang, brought the match to an end after scoring her second goal in the 68th minute with an assist from Midfielder Zhang Xin.
In the second match of the group stage round, China is set to face tournament debutants, Iran on Sunday. In the other match at D Y Patil Stadium, India was declined a win against Iran, and it ended in a goalless draw. (Asian Football Cup 2022)
