In an exclusive chat with Sports Flashes, the upcoming Indian Badminton Star Riya Mujherjee shared her experience about playing badminton in Covid times. She is participating in India Open 2022 currently being played at K.D Jhadav Indoor Hall, Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
Seven Players Withdrawn from Indian Open 2022
Riya applauds the stringent testing protocols which is currently being followed by the organizers BAI and BWF to ensure the health and safety of all participating players from various countries. Earlier in the day, BWF in a statement said that Seven Players have been withdrawn from the Indian Open 2022 after testing positive for Covid-19. Riya further added that Covid protocols and the tour will be constant companions, so players are getting used to it.
Riya Mukherjee Shared her Experience
Riya won the sub-junior championship in 2012 and won bronze in 2015 and 2016 editions. In 2014, Riya bagged her first International medal i.e. silver in the mixed double event with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy at the U-17 Asian Championships. In 2016, she also qualified for two major international events in India- Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold and the India Open.
