For the 1st time women MLAs took oath first after Bhagwant Mann
Taruni Gandhi, Chandigarh : Punjab Vidhan Sabha’s new legislating assembly created history today. For the first time in history, it is Women MLAs who took oath in the queue after Bhagwant Mann took oath as an MLA.
Till now, there has been no such preference given to women in the Punjab Legislative assembly so far by traditional chosen parties. Through this, the message of “ladies first” was given from the podium of Vidhan Sabha, and this has got huge appreciation from the common people.
Bhagwant Mann make the big announcement to start Helpline on Anticorruption
After the Assembly, CM Bhagwant Mann made the announcement of starting a helpline on Anti Corruption while tweeting on his official handle. He would release the helpline number on 23rd March Martyr Day of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh.
He said while tweeting that this would be his personal WhatsApp number and any Government official found to do ill practices, could be recorded and sent on that number. Bhagwant Mann wishes Punjab to be Corruption free with the help of this helpline number that would be launched on Martyr’s day.
According to the program released, the first session of the 16th Vidhan Sabha began on March 17, which will continue till March 22. The House has started and the newly-elected MLAs are being administered the oath.
Congress MLA and former Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, who arrived for the first session of Punjab Assembly, says, As a member of the opposition, I will continue to raise issues related to Punjab.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alone has 92 MLAs whereas, the total number of assembly seats in Punjab is 117. In which AAP won the maximum number of seats. Apart from this, Congress has got 18 seats and BJP has got 2 seats. SAD also won 3 seats. The speaker’s election will be held on March 21. Due to Holi, tomorrow i.e.
March 18, 19, and March 20 will be a holiday. Because of this, there will be no meeting. However, the next day on March 21, the Speaker will be elected. Inderbir Nijjar of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who won the election from Amritsar’s South constituency, was sworn in as Pro-tem Speaker on Wednesday by Governor Banwarilal Purohit. He has been given the responsibility of being the senior-most in the house.
