Everton Sack Rafael Benitez : After a horrific season for Everton, the club has given the official statement confirming the departure of Rafael Benitez as their Head coach. The team has been performing very poorly throughout the season. Out of 19 matches, they have only won 5 of them with four matches resulting in a draw and the rest of them have been disappointing defeats. (Everton Sack Rafael Benitez)
The 61-year-old signed a contract for three years after he took the reins from Carlo Ancelotti six months ago. Although Everton was up to a great start at the commencement of the season, their disastrous performance let them slip up to 16th position.
In Everton’s last match against Norwich City, they conceded two goals to one (2-1). There were multiple banners which were hovering past the stadiums calling for Benitez to lose his job. The board of Everton later gave a statement, “Everton Football Club can confirm the departure of Rafael Benitez as first-team manager. Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the club with immediate effect. An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course.” (Everton Sack Rafael Benitez)
Upon the post-match conference, Rafael Benitez voiced his opinions, “We conceded two goals through our own mistakes and that makes it a mountain to climb for us. We have to stay professional, concentrate on the next training session and match”. He further added, “I am a professional. I have enough experience and I came here to fix issues that, maybe, are coming from five years ago. I have to make sure I analyse these kinds of mistakes we are making and avoid that in the future. After the news surfaced Everton players thanked the manager for his input at the club. However, few of the candidates have been shortlisted for the role of managing the team. Stubbs, the former Everton defender believes that Roberto Martinez should not be re-appointed as Benitez’s successor. The main question is now who will fill in the vacuum that has been left on the managerial side for Everton.
