African Cup of Nations 2022: The first of the three matchdays of the African Cup of Nations has already started with a banger. Despite the uproar regarding the controversies of hosting the AFCON, the CAF board of directors announced that the matches will be played with a minimum of 11 players. This rule had just been made in case the teams suffer from COVID 19. Cameroon, Cape Verde, Guinea, Senegal, Gabon and Morocco have all gained an advantage after the first six games have been concluded.
Vincent Aboubakar Scored Twice for Cameroon (African Cup of Nations 2022)
In the second match, Vincent Aboubakar scored twice for Cameroon in a remarkable match against Burkina Faso, after the country had fallen behind by one goal. Cameroon dominated the second half with 60 percent to 40 percent possession. Only four of the 14 shots were on target which is a 28% shot conversion rate. Burkina Faso, on the other hand, managed to get 6 out of 11 shots on target.
Cape Verde Winning Their Debut Match (African Cup of Nations 2022)
Cape Verde surprised everyone by winning their debut match against Ethiopia. Yared Bayeh Bayley, an Ethiopian defender, was sent off within 12 minutes. Julio Tavares of Cape Verde scored a magnificent goal with Rodrigues’ assist despite playing through thick and thin.
Issiaga Sylla Scored a Stunning Goal

Guinea’s Issiaga Sylla scored a stunning goal with J. Kante’s help. Both teams climbed to the top of the table as a result of their respective victories.
Sofiane Boufal was named man of the match
Regardless of the fact that there were high hopes, Ghana performed poorly and disappointed its fans. They had a poor match against Morocco. Sofiane Boufal was named man of the match after knocking the ball past the net late in the second half against Ghana. Morocco dominated the game with a 62 percent possession rate.
Comoros was unable to defeat Gabon
Comoros, on the other hand, had a match against Gabon. Despite having most of the possession, Comoros was unable to defeat Gabon. Only two of the four shots were on target, and Aaron Boupendza took advantage of the opportunity to score a sensational right top corner goal that left the Comorian players awestruck.
Well, it’s only day one and we’ve already witnessed the drama and emotion among the players. With some lovely assists on the board, some stunners were scored. There’s still a lot more to come in this AFCON 2022.
